Console reviews from Zwolle, Netherlands — published 7 days a week

Who we are

About Alphaconsolefeed

We started this in 2023 because we kept reading reviews that felt like they'd been written by someone who'd watched a trailer and maybe played the first two hours. That's not a review — that's marketing copy with a score slapped on it.

Why we built this

Alphaconsolefeed started in Zwolle in 2023. Three of us — friends who'd been playing console games for years — got frustrated enough to do something about it. The Dutch gaming community is smart and sceptical. They're quick to spot when a review doesn't ring true.

We set one rule from day one: you don't write a console game review until you've finished the game, or in the case of open-world titles, spent enough time to give a genuinely informed opinion. That usually means 15–40 hours depending on the game.

We cover PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch. No PC. That's not a dig at PC gaming — we just don't cover what we don't play ourselves, and the team's setups are console-based.

The site is registered in the Netherlands as Alphaconsolefeed B.V., operating under Dutch law. We're based at Het Engelse Werk 4, Zwolle. All content is in English, aimed at the Dutch gaming community and international readers.

The scoring system

How our scores actually work

9–10
Exceptional

One of the best games of the year on that platform. We'd recommend it to almost anyone who owns the console.

7–8
Good

Worth buying if the genre fits. A 7 has real issues; an 8 is a strong recommendation with caveats.

5–6
Decent

Has something worth your time but significant problems. Wait for a sale or check our review carefully before buying.

1–4
Skip

We couldn't recommend this in good conscience. These scores are rare and we always explain exactly why.

What we don't do

We don't accept games in exchange for positive coverage. We don't let publishers approve reviews before publication. We don't assign scores before finishing a game. When a review is paid for by a developer or publisher, it's marked as Sponsored at the top of the page — and that label doesn't change how we score it.
