Affiliate & Sponsored Content Disclosure
Last updated: 1 November 2024
Transparency is part of how this site works. This page explains every commercial arrangement that might affect the content you read on Alphaconsolefeed.
1. Sponsored reviews
Some game reviews on this site are paid for by the game's developer or publisher. These are called sponsored reviews. The developer or publisher pays a placement fee to have their game reviewed and featured on Alphaconsolefeed. This is our primary commercial revenue source.
Every sponsored review is labelled with a clearly visible Sponsored badge at the top of the article. A disclosure note at the end of each sponsored piece states the commercial relationship explicitly. Sponsored content does not affect the editorial score or verdict — see our Editorial Policy for full details.
2. Affiliate links
Where this site links to game purchase pages or retailer listings, some of those links may be affiliate links. This means Alphaconsolefeed may earn a small commission if you click through and make a purchase — at no extra cost to you. Affiliate links are marked with a note such as "(affiliate link)" where used.
The presence of an affiliate link does not influence our review score or recommendation. We do not recommend games based on affiliate commission rates.
3. Review keys
Publishers sometimes provide review keys (free copies of a game) to facilitate coverage. Receiving a free key does not guarantee a positive review or any review at all. Where a review key was provided, this is disclosed within the review itself, typically in a note at the end of the article.
4. What we do not do
- We do not accept payment to publish positive reviews.
- We do not accept gifts, meals, travel, or other hospitality in exchange for favourable coverage.
- We do not allow sponsors to read, approve, or request changes to review text before publication.
- We do not guarantee any particular score for a paid placement.
- We do not run undisclosed native advertising.
5. Compliance
This disclosure is published in accordance with the Dutch Advertising Code (Reclamecode), the Dutch Unfair Commercial Practices Act (Wet oneerlijke handelspraktijken), and EU Directive 2005/29/EC on unfair commercial practices. Consumers have the right to know when content is commercially influenced.
